En este thriller, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) es un aclamado novelista de misterio que aparece muerto en su mansión poco después de su 85 cumpleaños. La muerte parece provocada por un suicidio, pero el suceso deja algunas preguntas. El detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) tratará de descubrir quién está detrás de la misteriosa muerte del escritor mientras esquiva pistas falsas y mentiras. A su lado estará la extraña y combativa familia de Harlan, cuyos miembros viven lanzándose puñaladas entre sí.
